How to give a Sub Q injection:
 

• Wash your hands thoroughly using soap and warm water.

• Get your injection ready and alcohol prep at hand.

• Check the dosing on your syringe. Your dose will be typed or circled. 

• Using the alcohol pad, clean the injection site.

• Remove the needle cap without touching the needle.

• Hold the needle in the same manner in which a dart is held.

• Staying 2 cm away from your belly, pinch a small amount of abdominal fat with your index finger and thumb. 

• Inject the needle into the skin at a 45 to 90-degree angle at the top of pinched skin. Using a quick motion helps it hurt less.

• Push the needle all the way into your skin and push on the plunger to release the full contents into your abdominal fat. It may take a few seconds to inject the full syringe. 

• Remove the syringe and apply a light amount of pressure to the injection site using the alcohol pad.
